Terrific Tennis Champs - 🏆🎾

Massive congratulations to eight of our incredible Year 2s who represented Benhall so brilliantly at the Gloucestershire Schools Tennis Competition this morning. Out of the 40 matches they played, we won all but 4 of them, winning overall Gold for Violet Class and Silver for Indigo Class. The children have worked so hard over the last few weeks and it really showed today! We are so very proud of their attitudes, the respect they showed their opposition, their determination and sportsmanship, and calm nature under pressure. On top of the amazing fun, team spirit and success we had, Ralf picked up an honesty award and Lola a passion award too, both recognised for their values as well as performance. Absolutely incredible Team Violet & Team Indigo, we couldn't be prouder of you all.

We are really sad to be saying Goodbye to two of our Pre-School team at the end of next week.  Mrs Muirhead and Mrs Long have come to the difficult decision to follow different career paths.  They will be deeply missed by the children, their families and the staff at Pre-School and School.  Thank you ladies for everything you have done for our Pre-School children over many years and we wish you so much love and luck for the future.

Benhall Pre-School continues to be unique and special and a really important part in the memorable learning journey children and their families experience as part of the Benhall Family.  We are delighted to welcome Mrs Stone to the team.  She will be join full-time from Monday the 17th June.  She won't mind me sharing that she has had many years experience in Pre-School settings and the children were captivated by her love and enthusiasm during her interview.

Following Diamond Dave's retirement earlier in the year we have been actively seeking a new caretaker.  In the meantime, Mrs Wintle has taken on the premises' management side of the role.  She has put a huge amount of work into ensuring the health and safety of children, staff and visitors since Christmas.  She is now returning to her clerical role and handing over the reigns to Miss Morris (health and safety) and our new caretaker, Mr Lloyd, who joins us next week.   His first task will tackling any outstanding repairs and improving the general appearance of school from outside!

While we are definitely not saying goodbye to Mrs Benzie, we want to take this opportunity to thank her for taking on some of Diamond Dave's cleaning responsibilities in addition to her own!  We are pleased that Miss Barr has joined the team and has now taken on these cleaning responsibilities.  

Sports Day - Wednesday 12^th June

We apologise that we had to make the difficult decision to cancel Sports Day this week especially as it was a beautifully sunny day. 

Unfortunately, the rain on Tuesday went on longer than forecast and left the track water logged and slippery.

We understand that rearranging poses problems with reorganising work commitments and we have limited space in terms of timetable to reschedule due to other events already in the calendar.  

9.00 - 10.30 – Reception

10.40 – 12.00 – Year 2

1.15 – 2.45 – Year 1 

PTA News

Benhall and St Marks PTA teams are finalising the arrangements for the Summer Fair on Friday 14th June 24.  

They need your help!

1. A box will be outside the office from this Friday for Teddy donations (just teddies this time please).
2. A non-uniform day will be held in both schools next Thursday (13th June) in exchange for a bottle donation.  There will be a box outside the office.  Please note any alcohol must be handed to office please.  Donations will be accepted all week next week.
3. Sweet cones went home with the children on Thursday/Friday - please fill them with sweet treats and bring them back to the office anytime next week.
4. Volunteers to set up, run stalls or pack away.  Please speak to your class rep if you can help.

Clubs in summer term

We have had a couple of queries about where to collect children from.  Here is the list.

Photography - Monday, 6 sessions 10th, 17th, 24^th June, 1st, 8th, 15^th July. Pick up from main door at 4.00pm.

Gymnastics - Tuesday, 10 sessions from 16th April. Pick up from main door at 3.50pm

Tennis - Tuesday, 10 sessions from 16th April. Pick up from playground at 4.00pm

Football - Wednesday 10 sessions from 17th April. Pick up from ?playground at 4.05pm approx.

Street Dance - Thursday 10 sessions from 18th. Pick up from the main door at 3.45pm

Multiskills - Thursday 10 sessions from 18th April. Pick up from playground at 4.00pm

Athletics - Friday 5 sessions from 19th April & last session is 17th May. Pick up from playground at 4.00pm

For all clubs except photography children can come in school PE kit for the day. Football shirts and football boots can be brought to school to change into for the club - not worn all day.
