 Friday Letter  - 6th September 2024

Dear Parents,

In just three days back at school, the children and staff have shown just how much they love the opportunity to be part of the Benhall Family! The staff have created really inviting learning environments that have ignited such enthusiasm for this term's learning already.  The children have returned to school raring to go, with excellent Purple Learning behaviour demonstrated in their learning and friendships.  It really has been a joy to see!

We are thrilled to welcome our new pre-school and reception children as well as those who have joined us in year 2.  We cannot wait to build on our relationships with you all as we get to know you over the next few weeks. 

We know that there is a lot to remember and get used to at this time of year so please check your child's tapestry account for updates and reminders from your child's teacher over the coming weeks.   If you are not sure, just ask.  We are all here to help!

Welcome to the Benhall Family

Araliya and Shenuk's baby brother arrived just in time for the start of school so that he could be there on their first day (at just 1 day old!).

As you can see they are delighted to have a new baby in their family and we are confident they will be excellent older siblings.

Congratulations to the whole family from everyone at Benhall.

Purple Learning

Our purple learning strands have had a revamp.  We are so excited to get stuck in to learning all about them and thinking about how we are purple learners.

Our focus for each term will be:

Term 1: I am curious about the world around me.

Term 2: I have the courage to embrace challenge.

Term 3: I have the resilience to persevere.

Term 4: I can show my love of learning by being creative.

Term 5: I show pride in celebrating others.

Term 6: I have the determination to learn from feedback.

School Council

This week and next week our KS1 classes will have been discussing all about the roles and responsibilities of being part of the School Council team. Each class member will vote for 2 children, the children with the most votes will then become part of the School Council team until Christmas. We will announce the new team in celebration assembly on Friday 13th September.

Lunch boxes and Snacks

Please remember, food brought in from home for snack should either be fresh fruit or veg.

We have children in school with serious allergies, so please remember that we are a no-nut school.  Please check food labels as food labelled  "May contain peanuts" also cannot be brought into school.

Lunchtimes

This year we welcome Miss Hopkins to the team, Miss Hopkins has previously worked at Benhall and we are so excited to see her return to the Benhall family.

Packed lunches will continue to eat outside on dry days until the weather gets cooler. Please make sure your child brings a coat and water bottle to school – it would be perfect if it could be named too.

Our Reception children will not join us for full lunchtimes until week 4.

PE in the Autumn Term

Reception - Wednesday and Friday

Year 1 - Monday and Friday

Year 2 - Tuesday and Thursday

Children should come to school in their PE kit which is-

  • Navy Tracksuit bottoms or shorts
  • White or Purple T-Shirt
  • Navy Jumper
  • Trainers or daps

Forest School in the Autumn Term

We are thrilled that Mrs Stephens will be leading forest school sessions for us again this year.  Children will wear their uniform under the waterproofs provided by the school.

A huge thank you to the PTA who support us with purchasing our new waterproofs this year.

Please make sure that your child wears trousers as part of their uniform on Forest School Days which are as follows -

  • Reception - Thursday (every other week starting from 4/10/24)
  • Year 1 - Tuesday (every other week starting from 17/9/24)
  • Year 2 - Wednesday (every other week starting from 18/9/24)
