Purple Learning
Purple Learning is at the core of everything we do here at Benhall – for both children and adults! For those who are new to our school or those who need a refresher on purple learning then please read on…
When you visit our school, you will see that ‘Purple Learning’ is the thread that runs throughout, whether our children are listening to a story in pre-school, building a den in forest school, making new friends in Reception, learning a new maths concept in year one, setting up a scientific enquiry in year 2 – the list is endless.
Our teachers know that:
- The more our children understand about learning the more exciting it gets.
- The better we get at thinking the more our children enjoy taking on a challenge.
- The harder our children try the prouder they feel.
So, our teachers remind our children of how they can become effective purple learners in school and when they are at home, in their communities, or moving on to new schools.
Each week there is a clear focus in school of one of the purple learning skills which we celebrate in Friday assembly. Every child has the chance to be nominated into the purple learner book which showcases the children and adults who have been noticed that week as a purple learner.
Our main purple learner skills are:
I can celebrate others
- I can learn from feedback
- I understand that effort is the key to success
- I can embrace challenges
- I can persevere
We know that purple learning can happen outside of school too so if your child has been a purple learner please feel free to email Miss Bilton (and send photos if you would like to!) of how your child has been a purple learner. This will then be shared in the purple learning assembly on Thursday ??
