 Friday Letter  - 13th December 2024

Dear Parents,

Thank you to everyone who came to support our Christmas performance this year.  The children were incredible, as always.  

As we approach the final week of term, we have so many things to look forward to.  On Monday, the children and staff will be wearing their Christmas jumpers to school to raise money for Save the Children.  On Wednesday, we are all excited about our Festive lunch.  Coming together as a whole school is always so special.  This will be followed by a Christmas party.  On Thursday, Pre-School are looking forward to welcoming parents to their Christmas event.

The lead up to Christmas is always a busy and exciting time in school, but it can also be a time when tiredness sets in.  Please bear this in mind when your children come home each evening. They may need more time than usual to rest.

Baby News 

Hello Everyone

I have heard the Christmas performances have been magical - well done to you all on being such super purple learners. I am missing you all at Benhall, but I have some very special news to share with you all... 

Our beautiful Freya Blossom was born on Tuesday at 5.04pm and weighed 6lb15oz. We came home on Wednesday and are now enjoying being a family of four. Tommy is the most amazing big brother and has been helping us to look after Freya so beautifully. We are so deeply in love with her and I cannot wait to come and visit school soon so you can all meet her. 

I hope you have the most wonderful Christmas time when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most.  £1 donation for the charity.

Every December, millions of people across the United Kingdom (and beyond!) put on a festive knit at their workplace, school or with friends and make a donation to help give children the magical future they deserve.

By dressing up you'll be helping kids facing serious issues like war, hunger and poverty. Find out more about the children you'll be helping.

Purple Learning

 ‘I have the courage to embrace challenges’  was certainly evident in our Christmas performance this week.  The staff overcame the challenge of the hall being out of action during vital rehearsing time by moving the performance outside.  During rehearsals, the children overcame the weather, low flying aircraft and intermittent microphone reception to be ready for the performances this week.  They were so ready and it felt really special to all be together.

We want to give a huge shout-out to Jamie and Rosie from Reception, who had the courage to perform the solo for you all.  Well done to Anwen who stepped in at short notice to narrate when Aiden was away during the final performance.  We are so proud of you all.

Well done everyone - you are all fabulous purple learners.

Goodbye and Good Luck

This week we said goodbye to Mrs Wintle and Mrs Newman.  Both ladies have worked at school for many years and will be missed by everyone.

Benhall Christmas Fair

Thank you to our fabulous PTA who worked so hard to put together the Christmas Fair last Friday.  There was such joy around school.  The PTA would welcome your feedback about the changes made this year.

As always, Father Christmas was very busy throughout the fair and it is challenging to find a way for everyone to see him.  Thank you to everyone for your patience!

PE in the Autumn Term

Reception - Wednesday and Friday

Year 1 - Monday and Friday

Year 2 - Tuesday and Thursday

Children should come to school in their PE kit which is-

  • Navy Tracksuit bottoms or shorts
  • White or Purple T-Shirt
  • Navy Jumper
  • Trainers or daps

Forest School in the Autumn Term

We are thrilled that Mrs Stephens will be leading forest school sessions for us again this year.  Children will wear their uniform under the waterproofs provided by the school.

A huge thank you to the PTA who support us with purchasing our new waterproofs this year.

Please make sure that your child wears trousers as part of their uniform on Forest School Days which are as follows -

  • Reception - Thursday (every other week starting from 4/10/24)
  • Year 1 - Tuesday (every other week starting from 17/9/24)
  • Year 2 - Wednesday (every other week starting from 18/9/24)
