Pre School News

This week is Pre-School we continued exploring ‘Julia Donaldson’ stories, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child,’ we talked about what we might be afraid of, we also explored mark making with different media and materials.

In  ‘Zog the dragon, the children enjoyed exploring a story tray and retelling the story, in the water play tray this reflected the story of ‘Tiddler,’ the little fish that had a great imagination and shared stories with his friends. In the ‘Snail & the Whale where a little snail takes a ride on the whale, they go on amazing journey, we discussed with the children no matter how small you are you can achieve great things. The children have enjoyed exploring a variety of dressing up, on Tuesday we now use the hall for Physical Activities which the children really enjoyed go over to the school. Our Little Wandle letter sound with what’s in the box this week has been ‘a’ and the children have been amazing!  We have been practising our Nativity and the vocals are coming on really well! Next week we have our theme of CHRISTMAS! Have a lovely weekend, The Pre-School Team.

Year 1 Community Visit

Year 1 have had such a range of visitors from the community last term and this term, we have met a nuclear engineer, the police, a brown owl and this week we met a doctor. Thank you to Shenuk’s Daddy who came in to talk about his role in the community, he came with lots of things to look at and we had a super time. Andy told us lots of fascinating facts and this now concludes the end of our unit about people in our community. Thank you to all of our visitors.

Reverse Advent Calendar

As always we are always teaching our children all about social responsibility and being able to think of others. This week we have introduced a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ which will be put outside the main hall doors. Instead of receiving a gift, we are going to be kindly asking anyone who would like to, to donate an item of food (tins and non-perishables please) to the advent box. At the end of term, the donations will then be taken to one of our local food banks or shelters. If you would like to donate something then please drop it into the office or your child can give it to their class teacher and take it down to the advent box themselves.
