Dear Parents,

We have had another wonderful week this week and the highlight has to be our special celebration day for Chinese New Year.  Thank you to the fabulous Mrs Aitken for organising such a valuable experience for all of our children.  

School is buzzing with learning in all of our classes and over at Pre-School.  The children in reception are perfecting their story writing, while our year ones have been focusing on presenting their knowledge about continents, the UK and Cheltenham in a variety of ways.  In year two, I have enjoyed discussing how they have set up a fair test about whether a plant can survive if it is watered with salt water.  This connects to their learning about the ocean.  Lyra has set me the challenge to collect some seawater this weekend, so she can conduct a new investigation to find out if seawater will make the basil droop faster than the salt water solution they made in class.  Great job guys - purple learning at its best!

Finally, our gerbils have names - welcome Fluffy and Nibbles!

Wonderful Workshop

Just a reminder that we are currently collecting the following for our workshop:

• Small cardboard boxes (no bigger than shoe boxes)
• Different types of paper
• Pens, Crayons, Fabric pens
• Bottles (small please)
• Bubble Wrap
• Glue sticks, sellotape, masking tape

Please drop them off to Mrs Evans or Mrs Wintle in the office or give to a member of the class teams on the door. Please if you know of any local businesses or companies that could donate resources to us then please ask them to email Miss Bilton on rebeccabilton@benhall.gloucs.sch.uk We would also love it if any local businesses would like to come in and work with our children in the Design Workshop.

Lunchtimes

As you will know we are currently working really hard to make our lunchtimes enjoyable, fun, and we have been aiming to provide a range of opportunities for all of our children.

The weather at the moment is so hit-and-miss that we are unable to have the fancy dress out every day, which is such a shame as the children really enjoy using it within their imaginative play. At our pupil supervisor meeting we decided we would create an ‘Accessories box’ so that the children still have things to use. We would love donations of: tiaras, wands, plastic helmets/hats or any accessories your little one may no longer think is magical but will be of great use of for out lunchtimes.  If you have any of the above items  then please drop them in a bag to the office and Mrs Evans/Mrs Wintle will pass on to Miss Bilton and Mrs Smurthwaite.

We also have job opportunities available for our Pupil Supervisor role, it consists of 75 minutes a day (choice of days available), you will be offered training opportunities and there are also meetings as a team every few weeks when we share ideas and support for each other within the team. Please speak with Miss Bilton if you are interested in this role.
