Pre School News

It was great to see everyone at Pre-School after half-term. This week we continued with our theme of Super Heroes and looking at different emotions and what challenges they might face every day. In our groups, we discussed what different emotions we might feel and what might make us feel this way, some examples were happy, excited, frightened, sad, worried, angry.  It is very important to provide opportunities to help the children understand what and why they are feeling this way and that talking about how we feel is very important as children and also as adults. We also discussed what superhero power we might like to have and why with some interesting replies.  We looked at the different superhero power poses and also got creative making super hero wrist bands.  On Tuesday we celebrated St David’s Day and explained to the children how this day is celebrated in Wales and that the Daffodil is its national flower.  The children had a go at painting their interpretation of a daffodil with some lovely creations. On Thursday we celebrated world book day, the children looked amazing dressed up as a favourite character and bringing in a book to share with their key person and friends. Mrs Gradziel leads Forest school on Mondays taking three different groups, the children explored the area taking turns on the tyre swing, exploring the mud kitchen, they were also shown how to some different tree rubbings. On Friday we enjoyed Hall time with games also doing some meditation to finish of the session. Next week we have a new theme for a week of being a “ Mini Writer.”  Happy birthday to Charlie who celebrated his birthday during the holidays.  There will be information put on Tapestry by Monday about Mother’s Day and also about two Parent pop in dates. PTA News

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the PTA fundraising initiatives planned by the PTA committee.

You will have noticed that we have had some activity on the main playground this week.  Our Timber Trail that is enjoyed by our children has become a bit tired over the years.  PTA were keen to enhance our our outdoor provision, so they have kindly funded it's refurbishment.  The staff and children are extremely grateful.  

Please consider supporting their future fundraisers

• Friday 24th March - Eyes Down for Family Bingo in the school Hall.  Doors open at 5.30pm, first game at 6pm.  See Parent Pay for booking details.  If you can help with setting up, clearing away or manning the refreshment stand please let your class rep or the office know.

•  Easter Trail - Could you decorate a paper egg template and display it in a window at the front of your house during the Easter break?  If so, the PTA are keen to hear from any residents of Benhall who would like to be part of the Easter Trail - you can contact them on their email PTA@benhall.gloucs.sch.uk .  Keep an eye out on the newsletter and class WhatsApps for how to purchase a trail map if your family would like to hunt for these eggs over the Easter holidays - A great way to work off all the chocolate! 
• School Lottery - please consider signing up to our weekly lottery draw. Thank you to everyone who has supported our super resilient year 2 team, who are continuing to train for their Mini London Marathon in memory of Freddie's Daddy and Jacob's Daddy.  They have more than smashed their target of raising £100 for Winston's Wish.  Their current total is £1690 and continues to rise!
