Pre School News
In Pre-School this week, we started our theme of being ‘Mini Musicians.’ We introduced three genres of music, classical, rock and pop a,nd explored their differences. We thought about the way we might move our bodies to the different sounds and how the music made us feel.
The children enjoyed taking part in dough disco; following an adult's lead with the different moves. They enjoyed a wake and shake, with ‘Crazy Frog, ‘ music. The children have taken part in ‘Squiggle,’ which is to help develop and support muscle control, hand eye coordination and support early writing skills. During this activity, we played different genres of music and the children used their crayons on the paper according to the rhythm and speed of the music.
The children were inspired and got creative making keyboards from junk modelling, white paper and making marks with paint, they also made xylophones using assorted coloured paper, straws and glue. On Thursday, we had a talent show where the children were all encouraged to perform a song, dance or say a rhyme in front of their friends, well done everyone, you were wonderful!
On Monday, we went to forest school and the children were given the challenge to select resources from forest school to make a musical instruments and then perform together.
Next week we continue being ‘Mini Musicians.’
Have a lovely weekend the Pre-School Team.
