Dear Parents,
I could not be prouder of our Benhall family this week. As always, it has been a jam-packed week with so many things happening.
Earlier in the week, I had the pleasure of observing writing lessons in year 2 and Green Class. The changes we have put in place over term 1 have had a positive impact. I saw children who have been inspired to write by the teacher's enthusiasm and feedback. All classes were challenged to improve their sentences with the new skills they had been taught. Well done to Henry B, who showed his purple learning skills and had the determination to respond to feedback which resulted in this excellent time adverbial for nighttime. - "As the dark sky swallowed the sun," I will definitely be magpieing that one Henry. I am looking forward to observing writing in reception and year 1 next week.
I started my week with the Remembrance Service. Our children are so respectful every year and I always have a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat when I lead this assembly because of my huge sense of pride in all of them. This year, 6 year 2 children read poems they had written about the war. All the staff and governors were moved by Misha, who had personal experience of being displaced by war, reading his poem with such confidence. This showed his courage to embrace the challenge of moving to a new country, learning a new language and beginning again somewhere new. We love you Misha.
On Monday evening, I had a meeting with our PTA to confirm the arrangements for the forthcoming Christmas Fair. Their commitment to offering children and their families the magical experiences that make our school so special. Thank you to you all for all you do.
On Wednesday evening, our reception team held their curriculum meeting. When your child joins a new school for the first time, there is a lot to take on board, so this meeting is a useful opportunity to find out more about the way we teach and how you can work in partnership with us. Thank you to everyone who came and for the positive feedback we have received. If you were unable to attend the meeting, the PowerPoint and useful links will be shared via tapestry.
We wish you all a lovely weekend.
Love from Miss Morris and the team
