We are currently recruiting for a Headteacher to start September 2025

At Benhall we believe that our pupils are at the centre of everything we do.  That is why we thought you ought to begin by reading some of their reactions when we asked them what they wanted in their new headteacher.  We hope you will follow the spirit of their answers…

â€˜Our headteacher is going to be inspiring joy in a school at the seaside,  so we need to find someone new for our special school.

We would like someone who is kind, shows respect to the whole school family, and shows how much they care through their smiling eyes.  We need someone to be part of our family and someone who doesn’t shout if there’s a problem, but talks and listens.  Our new headteacher won’t be afraid to dress up with rainbow hair or to climb into our treehouse to read us a story.  They need to be a gerbil lover with very neat handwriting (no curly bottomed w’s) and definitely know their times tables.  Our new headteacher will be excited to pop into our classroom and be wowed by our learning.’

As a two-form entry infant school, with a joined 40 place pre-school, Benhall is a thriving EYFS and KS1 community.  We were recognised as Good by Ofsted in 2023.  The measure that we value most is the extent to which we are all purple learners, who are also happy, creative, independent, respectful and inspired.  At Benhall we are passionate to embrace a creative enquiry based curriculum throughout the school, which includes Continuous Provision inside and out.

We are a family where children can learn to be the best that they can be, and we need someone to take on the leadership of the school and pre-school, to inspire and direct us on the next stage of our journey.  Someone who:

·         Is passionate about EYFS (including pre-school) and KS1 as the foundations of life long learning.

·         Understands the importance of involving, nurturing and ensuring the well-being of all staff across the setting.

·         Will embrace and develop our creative enquiry based curriculum, that utilises continuous provision across all age groups.

·         Believes in learning inside and outside – rain or shine.

·         Has high aspirations and expectations and a growth mindset.

·         Can communicate effectively with all stakeholders to fully involve them in what we do.

·         Will inspire and lead others, ensuring Benhall is leading the way.

·         Wants to work with our families and our community to keep Benhall as a beacon of what a school can, should and must be.

·         Understand that laughter and hard-work are equally important.

Are you that someone?  If you are, then the staff and Governors of Benhall, and the pupils, would love to hear from you.  We want to be as flexible in this recruitment process as we are in our approach to learning. So if you would like to put forward any form of different working arrangement, we would be very happy to consider the possibilities.
